There are a few activities that you can utilize to start manifesting what you want in your life and affirmations are one of the most talked about activities. That’s because using them creates a powerful shift of your energy that raises your vibrations and assists you with getting into alignment with the things that you want.
However, that's only IF you are using affirmations that speak life and positivity into you. See, the thing about affirmations is that they are literally words that you say to yourself over and over and over again… and through that repetition, you will start to believe what you are saying to yourself. So, if you are allowing your habitual negative thoughts, self deprecating inner dialogue, or constant self critiquing to be the dominant tone that you speak over yourself, then you are using the power of affirmative repetition to keep you in the same spot and manifesting the same thing that you already have.
Just like the law of attraction, the words you speak over yourself and the thoughts and opinions you have about yourself are always working manifesting things and experiences in your life today. The question is are you allowing the words you speak, your thoughts, and opinions to work for your benefit to create a life and future that you want, or are you defaulting to passively allowing them to bring you the same mundane things that you no longer want to experience?
Before you answer that question, let me tell you what affirmations are. Affirmations are sentences/saying that you repeat to yourself to program and/or rearrange the belief system of the subconscious mind. The purpose of doing this is to shift your thought process and belief system into positive thinking and beliefs that support what you want to manifest into your life. Remember, manifesting starts with your beliefs. And your beliefs cause you to think about and perceive things a certain way. Consequently, your thoughts create your self-dialogue which in turn are (whether you are doing this purposefully or not) the things in which you are affirming to yourself everyday. So again, I’ll ask the question - are you allowing affirmations to work for your benefit to create a life and future that you want, or are you defaulting to passively allowing them to bring you the same mundane things that you no longer want to experience?
If you’re still not sure, let me help you uncover the answer.
Think about what you want to manifest. Now, think about what you believe about what you’re hoping to manifest. Do your inner thoughts and self talk back up the thing you want to manifest? Here’s an example. If you want to manifest more money, do you constantly talk about how easy it is for you to obtain it, are you frequently thinking how easily money flows to you? Or, does your mind swim around in thoughts of doubt, fear, concern, and worry about all the reasons why the money that you want may never come?
If your answer is at all similar to the latter, then you are allowing negative thoughts to be the default voice that you are speaking over yourself. And that will cause you to keep manifesting the same things you are manifesting now.
So, let’s talk about how to use affirmations in a beneficial way.
The first thing you need to do is to identify what you hope to manifest. Go ahead and write it down.
The second thing is to write a list of self affirmations. These are sentences that describe the following:
The type of person that you need and want to be in order to get what you’re hoping to manifest. This includes characteristics, attitude, and personality.
The type of belief, feelings, and thoughts that you will need to have in order to manifest what you want.
Third, pick a time of the day that you will read these affirmations and then read them out loud. Every. Day. Most people who use affirmations successfully read them in the morning before getting their day started.
The repetition of reading your positive affirmation sentences will start to reprogram your pattern of thinking. By reading them aloud everyday, you are allowing your mind to hear you speak positivity over and about yourself. The more you do it, the more you hear it, the more you’ll believe it. And BELIEF is the KEY to manifesting.
So, that's why self affirmations are used most frequently by people who utilize the law of attraction to get what they want. They work to speak into existence the things that you want. They work to change and reprogram your subconscious mind, thoughts, and self talk from limiting beliefs, negativity and doubt to positive thoughts, faith, and belief. They work to speak life, love, and prosperity over yourself to increase and maintain self confidence and hope. And once your subconscious mind has been recalibrated, your energy shifts and with each passing day you become more aligned with what it is that you hope to manifest.
If you are new to the topic and practices of manifesting, affirmations, and/or the law of attraction, you may not know how to write your own affirmations. No sweat. I have a list of them here that you can use as a baseline to get started. All you need to do is highlight the affirmations that are relevant to you and read them aloud everyday. You can even add a few sentences of your own once you get the flow of how they work.
